Grant Asset Management provides multiple financial services while always focusing on placing client interests above firm interests.

Financial Planning

At Grant Asset Management, our comprehensive financial planning approach encompasses a review and analysis of the following components as necessary:

Investment Planning/Asset Allocation – This involves advice with respect to asset allocation and asset accumulation techniques. Evaluations are made of existing investments in terms of their economic and tax characteristics as well as their suitability for meeting the client’s objectives. Tax consequences and their implications are identified and evaluated.

Retirement Planning – This involves advice with respect to alternatives and techniques for accumulating wealth for income or distribution during retirement. Tax consequences and their implications are identified and evaluated.

Education Planning – This includes alternatives and strategies with respect to the complete or partial funding of all levels of education, including elementary, secondary, and college or postsecondary education. Tax consequences and their implications are identified and evaluated.

Tax Planning – This encompasses a large array of services that are customized to the individual client’s specific financial circumstances. The Adviser may offer advice as to how tax laws will effect various financial decisions, investing in new opportunities, consolidation of existing investments, and individual tax issues, among others.

Insurance Planning – This includes calculation of a client’s insurance needs/goals, analysis of insurance already owned, and recommendations on the combination of insurance types that best meet a client’s needs/goals, including life, health, disability, and long-term care insurance.

Estate Planning – This involves advice with respect to property ownership, distribution strategies, estate tax reduction, and tax payment techniques. It involves a discussion of gifts, trusts, etc. Tax consequences and their implications are identified and evaluated.

Cash Flow Management – This includes an analysis of current and projected overall sources and uses of funds and/or plans for specific future cash flows. Tax consequences and their implications are identified and evaluated.

Additional Planning – Including but not limited to children with special needs, divorce, and business planning.

Investment Philosophy

  1. Excess fees paid to your Financial Advisor have a direct negative correlation to investment returns, therefore our management fees are significantly below the market.
  2. Excess fees paid for investment products have a direct negative correlation to investment returns, therefore we utilize low cost exchange traded funds and individual issues with an eye on our client’s total investment cost.
  3. Excess taxes paid have a direct negative impact on investment returns, therefore we manage assets utilizing all tax reduction strategies available.
  4. Concentrated investments whether in one stock or asset class can expose investors to increased business risk, volatility, etc, therefore we allocate assets among various asset classes and risk profiles.
  5. A large number of actively managed mutual fund managers under-perform their respective index each year despite high expense ratios, transaction costs, and tax inefficiencies, therefore we utilize exchange traded funds and individual issues.
  6. The majority of retail investors under-perform the overall market because of poor timing decisions based on fear or greed, therefore we don’t let emotions control our actions.
  7. If you underestimate or overestimate your investment time horizon it is highly likely you will over-react to market movements, therefore we build portfolios with specific time horizons in mind.
  8. Risk tolerance questionnaires typically leave investors confused and still likely to overreact to market movements, therefore we don’t rely on these questionnaires alone when allocating client portfolios.
